In 1997 Rob Gorta, after serving eight years in the United States Coast Guard, started his own fishing charters service fishing the Gulf of Mexico. Capt. Rob runs about 200 charters annually fishing the Gulf of Mexico in an area 25 miles north and south of St. Petersburg, Florida. His primary target fish are Snook, Redfish, and Tarpon although while fishing in saltwater there is sometimes a surprise catch.
Capt. Rob’s sight casting and stalking of redfish in shallow water aid him as a Tarpon angler and captain. Capt. Rob has been a host of his own TV fishing show and has appeared on many popular network fishing shows.
